Members of the team have provided the “client side” advice to the contracted implementers of a DFID Water Infrastructure Project; creating a series of strategies and plans to support operations in extreme risk conditions.
This has involved the creation of extensive SOPs / briefing mechanisms to support the strategies and plans, the creation of “special conditions” for employees and contractors to sign-off prior to deployment and personal and project risk registers to ensure all aspects are kept constantly under review.
Minimising risk, managing ongoing risk and fulfilling all “duty of care obligations” has been the cornerstones upon which the entire mobilisation and ongoing implementation has been based.
As the programme developed, we were engaged in ongoing management and monitoring of risk, through regular assessments and risk analysis, ensuring that the provision of field security for personnel and contractors meets the agreed standard specifying security arrangements for “water infrastructure developments sites”, ensuring their integrity during the construction phase and building local capacity to assume this role from handover to Iraqi counterparts.
